LADIES ITALIAN GOLF TOUR

/, Lombardy, Tuscany/LADIES ITALIAN GOLF TOUR

DAY 1: Arrival at Milan Malpensa (MXP) Airport. Upon arrival you will be met by a Golf Around Italy Representative and transferred by private coach to the Albergo Terminus Hotel.

Check in to the hotel (check in time 2:00 pm). This afternoon a local guide will meet the group for a guided tour of the city centre of Como. The tour will end in a local restaurant within walking distance from your hotel where your dinner will be served.
Overnight at Albergo Terminus.

The Hotel Terminus was born of the complete restructuring of an early 19th-century palazzo, whose Liberty style and tasteful elegance, typical of the Lombard aristocracy, has been artfully preserved. In addition to revitalising the architectural splendour of the historic edifice, the restoration has radically reconfigured its infrastructure and service facilities in order to ensure maximum comfort and convenience for our guests.

DAY 2: After breakfast, transfer to Menaggio & Cadennabia Golf Club for your first round of golf.
Menaggio & Cadenabbia Golf Club is the 2nd oldest Golf Club in Italy founded in 1907. It is a course combining old-world values with a heritage of golfing culture. From the Golf Club players can have a spectacular view of Lake Como.
Following golf this afternoon enjoy a Cookery Class at the famous Chef’s School Al Casnati. The Chefs will teach you how to prepare typical Italian dishes, that you will then enjoy.
Coach transfer back to your hotel for the night.

DAY 3: After breakfast, meet the local escort in the hall of your hotel, cross the street and board your private motorboat for an exiting cruise of Lake Como.
You will stop and visit the breathless Villa Balbianello before crossing the lake and enjoying lunch at the charming restaurant Bellagio.

Enjoy some free time before boarding the public hydrofoil to transferred back to Como. The rest of the day is free.

DAY 4: After breakfast, private transfer to Monticello Golf Club for your second round of golf.

Monticello Golf Club is one of the great classic courses in Italy, made famous by the Italian Open championships held here and by the very meticulous maintenance and green-keeping on both 18-hole courses. The wonderful lake Como, a few miles down the road, makes this a great spot for a weekend or longer holiday. The course is laid out in a plain lined with little copses and with the Alps as a backdrop. The difficulties are clearly in view and judiciously spread in order to avoid overwhelming the average player will feel easy playing from the back-tees, particularly on the two very long par 3s, one green of which is surrounded by water (hole n° 7). Elsewhere, the fairways are rather wide, the rough can be dangerous and the most frequently encountered hazards are bunkers and trees. A good course but one which might have deserved a little more imagination from a graphical viewpoint.
Afternoon shopping at Fox Town.

DAY 5: After breakfast, private coach to Milano for a guided tour of the city centre and some shopping before taking the train to Florence. Luggage van will take care of the clubs and of luggage.
Assistance during at the train stations and, once in Florence, transfer by coach to the selected hotel. Check in at Hotel Lungarno in Florence.
Like a grand cruise ship sailing down the river, Hotel Lungarno, is the only one that literally sits over the Arno. Colours such as blue and white were used to accentuate the sense of being, endlessly drifting on the Arno but with the Ponte Vecchio (Florence’s iconic symbol) as your point of reference. The sense of sailing, the constant river view contrasted beautifully with that of a cozy home.

DAY 6: After breakfast, play at Le Pavoniere Golf Club.

The Golf Club Le Pavoniere lies 3 kilometres far from Prato, the ancient industrial and manufacturing centre very close to Florence that, especially in recent years, has become a leading figure on the Tuscan economic scene. Besides many important memories of the past centuries, the town of Prato also possesses one of the very rare Italian museums of contemporary art, the Pecci Foundation, where from time to time very important exhibitions are held of the works of the major world-famous artists of our times. The town lies in the plain, bathed by the river Arno and crossed by the motorway that links Florence with the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea and Versilia. The area around the club has many nurseries and is intensively farmed: it is rich in water which has been used on the golf course to create several obstacles. Filling material has been used to make the terrain gently undulating, while other features include a wood of holm-oaks, cluster pines and the ever-present cypresses of Tuscany. A radical transformation changed the original 6-hole course into a fascinating 18-hole course designed by the famous U.S. champion Arnold Palmer.

After a good look at Florence, it is time to head west of the city and discover Montecatini Terme, a pretty spa resort for treating people suffering from too much “Bistecca alla Fiorentina” or Chianti, and particularly Prato, for many a year overshadowed by Florence but nonetheless a town of many attractions. Visit Duomo, the Palazzo Pretorio, or the amazing fortress of Castello dell’Imperatore. Or again, a few miles further on, play Le Pavoniere, opened in 1986 and designed by Arnold Palmer, as was Castello di Tolcinasco in Lombardy. You can feel Arnie’s highly strategic inspiration, where hazards are very cleverly brought into play, and his excellent knowledge of players of differing abilities. All the same, the less experienced players might suffer a little here anyway. Although rather flat, the course is subtle enough to be played and enjoyed often, and the greens big enough to offer very many different pin positions. Afternoon free time.

DAY 7: The day is free for your own visit of Florence.

Florence is famous for its wealth of fine art and architecture and was long ruled by the Medici family. Monuments and art sites not to be missed are the Uffizi Gallery, the Academy Gallery, the Palazzo Vecchio, the Duomo, the Giotto bell tower, the St. John’s Baptistery, Santa Maria Novella, Santa Croce. Just to mention few, but the list can grow longer because each part of Florence, each street contains an art treasure.

DAY 8: After your breakfast, according to your flight schedule, depart towards the airport of Florence.
